SUMMARY:Meaningful Alignment with Physicians & Financial Goals
DESCRIPTION:Oct 23rd 4-7:30pm. Holiday Inn Williamsburg. Eligible for 1.5 In-Person Interactive Education credits through ACHE. \nAgenda \n\n4-5pm Networking Happy Hour\n4:30-5:30pm Dinner\n5:30-7pm Panel Discussion\n7-7:30pm- Event Wrap-Up\n\nSpeakers \n\nAdria Vanhoozier\, MHA\, President\, Riverside Doctors Hospital\nAlan George\, FACHE\, President\, Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital\nVonnie James\, FACHE\, MSHA\, Chief Financial Officer\, The Pavilion at Williamsburg Summit BHC\nModerator: Alexandria Ritchie\, MHA\, Director of Patient Care Services\, Sentara Leigh Hospital\n\nTo truly transform the delivery of healthcare\, the alignment and integration of executive and physician goals should be developed to create economic incentives to achieve clinical care transformations\, which require behavioral and cultural changes in the delivery systems. Future success for health systems will likely depend on physicians not only successfully adapting to evolving healthcare regulatory and practice requirements\, but also learning how to succeed in a world of new reimbursement models. To address these changes\, physician alignment has become a common term used by healthcare leaders to describe the activities used to motivate behavior change. Developing a case for change that articulates why transformation must occur to achieve desired clinical and business outcomes and associated implementation plans may seem easy to tackle in theory. However\, anyone who has ever tried to change a habit— whether on an individual or team/organizational level—knows that there is nothing easy about changing the way in which people behave and operate. This session will provide strategies and tactics on how to create meaningful physician and healthcare organizational goals\, increase return on investment\, and improve quality and efficiencies in the organization. \n

MedCrypt is backed by Safeguard Scientifics\, LRV Health\, Eniac Ventures\, Sway Ventures\, and a group of angel investors with experience in the healthcare\, security\, and IoT spaces. \nPrior to founding MedCrypt\, Mike was a cofounder of Gamma Basics\, a company started while a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania. Gamma Basics aimed to solve a series of workflow problems in radiation oncology\, including the analysis of radiation exposure in hospital oncology departments\, and the analysis of quality assurance data related to radiation oncology equipment. His passion is working with motivated healthcare operational leaders to attain operational excellence through high-reliability practices in an ethical and compliant framework. \nHe received his Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (HIM) and has his Juris Doctorate (JD) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Florida International University. He also currently works as an adjunct professor for both FIU and FAU\, teaching courses in healthcare finance\, human resources\, and the legal aspects of healthcare for both Master in Healthcare Administration programs. He is nationally certified in health care compliance (CHC)\, health care privacy (CHPC)\, and risk management (CPHRM). \nChris is passionate about serving and giving back to his community. DESCRIPTION:Join HCAT for our annual signature event. Aug 13th 3:30-8pm at The Founders Inn. Earn up to 3.0 In-Person Interactive Education Credits! \nProgram Schedule \n3:30 – 4:30 PM Networking Hour \n4:30 – 6:00 PM Session 1: Implementing Strategic Plans for Successful Operations \n6:00 – 6:30 PM Dinner \n6:30 – 8:00 PM Session 2: Sustainable Strategies to Support Well-being for Healthcare Professionals \nImplementing Strategic Plans for Successful Operations- Once the strategic plan is developed\, the work is only half done. Without effective implementation\, a strategic plan may be no more than a fancy binder on a shelf. Leaders face many challenges in getting organization wide buy-in of the goals and plan and in setting up a system of accountability to ensure that the strategic plan is followed. This program will review common situations and concerns addressed by the panelists when implementing their strategic plans. \nModerator: LCDR Kenneth J. Bush\, DHSc\, MIS\, MHA\, Executive Assistant/Chief Information Officer\, Naval Medical Forces Atlantic/Defense Health Network Atlantic \nPanelist: Jace Brady\, MHA\, FACHE\, Chief Operating Officer\, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital \nPanelist: CAPT J. Greg Whaley\, MD\, MBA\, CPE\, FACHE\, Officer-In-Charge\, Fleet Surgical Team EIGHT \nPanelist: Elizabeth Lovell\, Pharm.D.\, FACHE\, CPPS\, CPHQ\, Vice President\, Operations\, Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital \nSustaininable Strategies to Support Well-being for Healthcare Professionals- In the wake of the pandemic\, pre-existing challenges with healthcare professional burnout have only accelerated. This has resulted in challenges for these individuals and their loved ones\, as well as workforce shortages that are putting a strain on the healthcare system. In addition\, adverse patient events have been attributed to healthcare staff who have had trouble sleeping\, reduced job satisfaction\, impaired behavior\, and anxiety. These attributes contribute to more serious consequences such as burnout\, depression\, post-traumatic disorder\, and suicidal ideation. Healthcare leaders often struggle with finding long-term solutions to address an important but personal issue for their staff and organization. During this panel\, participants will learn sustainable strategies and approaches that will address wellbeing and resiliency for healthcare professionals in today’s healthcare environment. \nModerator: Alayna Johnson DHSC\, MPH\, Director of Imaging Services Bon Secours Hampton Roads \nPanelist: Bruce Lo\, Chief\, Department of Emergency Medicine\, Sentara Hospitals Norfolk \nPanelist: CDR Robyn M. SUMMARY:Emergency Department Service Standards
DESCRIPTION:The Emergency Department is considered the “Front Door” to the hospital. Over the past several years\, there has been a significant push by hospitals across the country to promote emergency department service standards\, with the objective of attracting new patients\, retaining current patients\, and positioning the hospital in a favorable light to the community. Before a hospital embarks on an emergency department service standard it is imperative that they recognize the comprehensive house-wide approach that is required in order to provide\, sustain and reap the benefits of an emergency department service standard. This presentation will address the operational requirements\, the impact on patient safety\, required resource allocation\, physical plant requirements and marketing requirements necessary for the successful implementation of emergency department service standards across a variety of hospitals\, in addition to addressing the commitment required by the C-suite and respective \nMODERATOR: ASHLEE STEVENS\, VP OF NURSING\, CHIEF NURSING OFFICE\, BON SECOURS MARY IMMACULATE HOSPITAL \nPANEL SPEAKER: DR. SUMMARY:Rethinking the Ambulatory Care Network
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an in-person event for 1.5 educational credits!\n\n\nOrganic growth and acquisitions have rendered existing Ambulatory Care Networks obsolete and inefficient. Healthcare systems are focusing on developing ideal geographic distributions of new and current sites of care that optimize access\, capital costs\, operational costs\, and population health management goals. They are creating standardized templates for the “Medical Office Building of the Future\,” including a common vision for endto-end flow of patients\, staff\, and providers in the new facilities\, and space requirements to support lean operations\, and virtual care. SUMMARY:Interdependence of Public\, Private\, & Federal Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a dynamic virtual panel via Zoom! The event is approved for 1.5 virtual interactive educational credits!\n\n\nThe traditional boundaries between Public\, Private and Federal Healthcare delivery have become more permeable as healthcare regulations and requirements have changed. The beneficiary population can no longer be considered as belonging to its system alone. Patients seeks services outside healthcare systems for many reasons\, including access\, capacity\, and cost. Traditionally\, migration between healthcare systems would be discouraged through financial measures or by threat of disenrollment. Today healthcare systems rely on each other to provide services that they cannot provide for financial\, geographical or accessibility reasons. \nThe Veterans Administration and Department of Defense both rely on partnerships with public and private healthcare systems to provide care to Veterans\, Service Members\, and their dependents beyond the capability of the Federal system. Likewise\, public and private healthcare systems enter into affiliation agreements with Federal sector healthcare systems for academic and research-based support. \nThrough this discussion\, participants will gain an understanding of the complexities related to documentation of episodes of care\, reimbursement for completed care\, and information technology challenges; the interoperability and cooperation of Public\, Private and Federal Healthcare Systems during natural or manmade disasters; and the future of Public\, Private and Federal Healthcare Delivery as it relates to the continued homogenization of their respective patient populations. \n \nThis event is approved for 1.5 ACHE Virtual Interactive Credits! \n**Please note: ALL ATTENDEES must register for this event using the link above. SUMMARY:Volunteer with Sleep in Heavenly Peace
DESCRIPTION:Help HCAT build 50 beds for children in need in our community!\n\n\nSleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is hosting their Bunks Across America 2024 event and need our assistance to provide 50 beds to children without our community. Research shows to children who sleep on the floor are more likely to experience negative outcomes\, including in health and education. SHP helps to address that need\, by finding sponsors and building and transporting the beds themselves. \nNever built anything? No experience is needed! You must wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing. All equipment and training will be provided. \nThe event starts at 0930 and will end when all 50 beds are built\, so we do not anticipate going the entire day. Want to bring your teenager to help? Bring them along! \nParking is in the school parking lot and check-in is in the main front entrance by the flagpole. \nPlease note: we have reserved 10 guest spots\, so only sign-up if you are certain you can attend. \nACHE members: this can count towards your volunteer events needed for FACHE (cert or recert). \nFor questions\, please contact the HCAT volunteer coordinator (Kim) at kimbot@gmail.com.
