SUMMARY:HCAT & NAHSE Virginia Joint Virtual Education event
DESCRIPTION:Hear from two leading healthcare organizations on Designing Efficient & High-Quality Patient-Centered Healthcare Delivery Facilities Models \nRegister Today: Two part registration required \nNAHSE Virginia and HCAT are teaming up on this exciting virtual education event. \nEvidence-based design (EBD) incorporates the process of basing decisions about healthcare facility environments on creditable research to achieve the best possible outcomes for the patient. Historically\, many healthcare facilities have been designed primarily around the provider’s processes. However\, the facility design did not always produce efficient or effective workflow for the provider\, nor did the design incorporate the best interests of the patient. With the advancements in technology\, healthcare providers are finding out that there are proven\, efficient and effective strategies to achieve more desirable outcomes that are in the best interest of the patient. Implementing EBD principles can sometimes be a difficult decision for the provider with the concern that it may increase their costs. The key to overcoming this concern is to educate healthcare facility decisionmakers about the types of research that are available to quantify the long-term value of EBD. Since the practice of evidence-based medicine (EBM) requires conscientious and committed use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of patients it is paramount there be an alignment between EBD and EBM to provide more efficient and high-quality healthcare delivery.

SUMMARY:Care for the Uninsured and Underinsured
DESCRIPTION:Overview \nJoin HCAT on November 12th for a virtual education event on Care for the Uninsured & Underinsured. TWO-PART REGISTRATION REQUIRED! \n  \nTWO PART REGISTRATION REQUIRED. After registering on Eventbrite\, you must register at https://achecloud.my.site.com/store/product/01tjA0000016NasQAE \n  \nBeginning in 2014\, the Affordable Care Act expanded coverage to previously uninsured people through the expansion of Medicaid and establishing Health Insurance Marketplaces. Data show that gains in public and private insurance coverage as well people with low-income in states that implemented expanded Medicaid coverage. However\, millions of people remain uninsured because of the high premium cost\, lack of coverage through a job\, undocumented status\, or ineligibility due to states that did not expand Medicaid coverage. Studies repeatedly note that the uninsured are less likely to obtain preventive care and services for major chronic care conditions. This has a direct impact on healthcare organizations in terms of the provision of charity care\, the cost and reimbursement of care\, and state\, federal and private funding sources. In addition\, it widens existing health disparities and furthers inequities in access to care and outcomes. Given these issues\, healthcare executives need to execute strategies and implement programs to care for the un/underinsured\, and understand legislation at the federal\, state\, and local levels to support policies that will address current challenges in this space. \n  \nModerator: Josh Sadler\, Manger of Performance Engineering\, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters \nPanel Speakers: \n\nWillie Brown\, Vice President Revenue Cycle\, Sentara Health\nSheryl Garland\, FACHE\, Chief of Health Impact\, VCU Health\nDr. Novella Thompson\, Assistant Chief of Population Health\, UVA Health\n\n  \nRegistration ends November 10th \n  \n
