HCAT Newsletter- Q3 2024

August 11, 2024

HCAT Members,

We are over halfway through 2024. Hopefully, you have been able to participate in some of the events we have had so far. Thank you to our incredible volunteers who dedicate countless hours to coordinate these events.

Here is a highlight of what we have accomplished this quarter and what we have coming up:

Past Events

We launched a summer networking series “Closing Cocktails” at breweries in Norfolk and Newport News with outstanding turnouts. Keep your eye out for an email notification, as we will have one more before the summer ends!

HCAT also hosted a virtual education event on “Inclusive Leadership” in partnership with the local NAHSE and NALHE chapters. Over 50% of attendees were from HCAT and other ACHE chapters. It was phenomenal to gain insight from some amazing leaders in our community working on advancing diversity and inclusion in the healthcare space.

Upcoming Events

We have an education and networking event happening on August 13th from 3:30-8:00 pm at the Founder’s Inn in Virginia Beach. There will be a panel discussion on “Alternative Care Models” and “Successfully Leading Change”. Please use the link below to register. Looking forward to seeing you there! We have several opportunities: https://hcatidewater.com/event/networking-educational-event-save-the-date/

We have several education opportunities scheduled for later this year, so keep an eye out for registration links in your email, on our website, through our Eventbrite site, and through our LinkedIn:

Congratulations to Our New Fellows

Congratulations to our chapter members that have recently passed the Board of Governors’ Exam and have advanced to Fellow. These individuals have successfully met all the standards demonstrating their competency and dedication to healthcare management excellence. This is a tremendous accomplishment.

  • Mary E. Weyant, PharmD, FACHE – Director of Oncology Infusion Services, Riverside Health System
  • Robin Baldauf, MBA, MSN, FACHE – Market Chief Nursing Officer, Bons Secours Mercy Health

If you are interested in advancing to Fellow, please reach out to our Advancement Committee Chair Jacy Brady at jpbrady@sentara.com.

Farewell

We would like to wish our Membership Chair, Hope Hatfield, farewell as she pursues a new professional opportunity in Texas. Hope recently completed her administrative fellowship at Bon Secours Mercy Health and led multiple membership engagement initiatives for HCAT, including the inception of our Closing Cocktails summer networking series.
Best of luck, Hope!

We still have so much planned for this year, so I hope to connect with you at an event soon.

As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.

Thank you,
