Alexandria Ritchie

Programs Chair, Sentara

Prior to joining Sentara this year as an administrative fellow, Alex served VCU Health System as an administrative intern in the Continuum Integration Center where she contributed to the development of the system’s acute care hospital at home program. She also brings a background in biomedical engineering and design thinking as co-founder of a medical device start-up, DuraSafe, centered around epidural innovation. This work propelled her towards the primary care space where she served as clinical operations manager for a Richmond-based primary care practice, increasing access to care through constructing the practice’s telehealth infrastructure during COVID-19. In the classroom, Alex was elected to serve her cohort as president of the VCU MHA 2024 class. These experiences have helped Alex develop her career vision focused on advancing health equity, access to care, and integration along the continuum with an operations focus. Alex’s current passion for this field lies in contributing to infrastructure and partnerships that advance access to comprehensive, person-focused care and collaboration between organizations and the communities we strive to serve.
